I find that in the cluster of all the chaos, the families pay dearly. When you consider, the economic value, to the everyday process of living. Working a 9-5, or owning your own business. It’s a known fact that your business is investigated, as in the case of the Pharmacist Jerome Ersland. As in the article “Oklahoma City’s Reliable Pharmacy draws official scrutiny on narcotics sales.” We see one aspect of a state battling with the business of the man whose criminal case was self-Defense and he got life. Yet his business is being attacked legally because of his being incarcerated. Many families lose moral within the family, because of the fact that there love one is incarcerated and they can’t join them. A major part of the stress is due to the break up of the physical departure of that individual. These are surprises, or yet crisis that erupt from an person/persons who standup, fight back, or hold there ground against and aggressive attacker, who loses there life in the process of attacking. There are so many researches going on to get the true effects of how family’s are destroyed due to a person standing there grounds and defending there life, or there family’s. So as we forge ahead everyday this continuous subject in legislation,
with congress, politicians, and law makers around the country, have helped
some, yet it has destroyed many who have truly defended themselves against
attacks.
There are so many cases around the country that we can look at that will show you the benefits, and the flaws of the “Stand Your Ground” law which is suppose to exonerate those individuals who are protected by law under this statue, in “Self Defense”. As I have researched this topic, it leaves me with so many other questions pertaining to the unbalancing, of justice in the clarity of a law passed yet not being used in the proper interpretation of the law for any citizen, or persons in the states who up hold the law. You have cases such as John Mcneil vs. the state of Georgia in which he was initially cleared by the Kennesaw police, yet a Cobb County D.A. Pat Head chose to charge him with murder, almost a year later. Which since 2006 of November, he has been serving a life sentence. With the support of his family and other support groups seeking to get his appeals answered for freedom of this injustice of the law.
To the uncertainty of ones fate with the actions of another human being we see that in the throws of humanity we all suffer from a flaw of making the wrong decisions in crucial matters of life and death. The point of leadership, placing the right individuals in the seat of decision making, even when a judge give the jury panel the understanding of the law, there understanding is due to what two individuals explain to them as well as there on bias’s thoughts. We live in a world where many believe in the system which is suppose to carry out justice and look out for all who are right, or wrong in a society that lives by laws. When you can not get the same results with the up holding of a law that is passed, you have to begin to wonder. Why aren't these matters being dealt with in timely fashions under the law? Who stands to gain the most from decisions that are made? What should be done to correct a spiraling misunderstanding of justice? These are the matters which cause for a system to thrive with belief from those who don’t trust and believe, as well as those who feel what others decide we must follow, yet it is jeopardizing there lives as well as the lives of society on a hold. I argue that despite all the many cases that have happen an that will happen they will have to correct it soon, or they will have an over abundant issues that will breakdown the fabric of this society. Our lives are in the hands of those who can’t seem to find continuous balance in the understanding of a law that they passed for this society to become better. Yet many lives are affected by this one law of self defense, which is called the “Stand Your Ground” law in many states. This is and on going subject matter for a whole nation of law abiding citizens, as well as unlawful abiding citizens who are protected by this law. I have learned a great deal of law, as well as what individuals feel about being able to defend ones person, or family in the case of self defense. We are all taken the chance when we decide to make a stand for what we know to be protecting our lives, from harm that we can see, or not see. We must all understand the stringent guide lines of what the law provides a citizen, or one in the borders of the law to do, or not do that will not cause them to do a day in prison or lose there life to and aggressive perpetrator, or district attorney. Self defense is really not self defense when you have to serve time for another person’s selfish action toward you.
